Gordon
Rimmers Biography
Gordon Rimmer was born in Wokingham
in July 1966, and was educated at Emmbrook
Comprehensive School and Royal
Holloway & Bedford New College, London University where Gordon
obtained his joint honours degree in Chemistry and Management
Studies. He joined Hogg Robinson on 4th July 1988, on the first
Graduate recruitment programme for Hogg Robinson Financial Services,
Reading, and went on to hold a number of key management positions,
during the next 14 years, primarily in IT/IS and Marketing.
Within IS, Gordon developed and
implemented a range of back/front office systems, including Corporate
BIS (now evolved into MIDAS), a Telemarketing system, Time Management
system, and the Back Office processing systems for Advizas. Gordon
also worked on the Financial Services Industry body 'Origo' working
towards innovative solutions for electronic trading.
In 1994 he became Marketing Director
for Hogg Robinson Financial Services, which included responsibility
for putting the marketing department together, and amongst other
areas all PR, Advertising, Telemarketing and a design studio delivering
client communication work. Gordon worked on developing the services
and introduced integrated channel campaigns, and a more customer
focused approach.
He then became Director of Technology
Enabled Relationship Management for Hogg
Robinson plc in 1998, and went on to form a e-Commerce/ e-Business
'web' development department, responsible for setting up Hogg
Robinson's initial web presence for Internet, Intranet and Extranet
projects, including developing and implementing e-business strategies.
He also has a keen interest and responsibility for developing
CRM (customer relationship management) within businesses.
Since March 2001, Gordon has been
employing his skill sets to develop the Non-Travel e-Business
Product Development initiatives for e-Commerce, and is currently
looking to launch a range of new services. Gordon is also responsible
for the on-going development of all the non-travel web sites.
Interests are e-Business and
CRM, sport, especially rugby and squash, travelling, motor sport
(esp.' Le Mans)
and dancing (CEROC).
He lives in Reading,
Berkshire with his girlfriend Sarah.
